Shipments of medical journals and textbooks to Burma (Myanmar)

Shipments of medical journals (with advertisements removed) such as JAMA, NEJM, Pediatrics and Family Practice journals and Medical Textbooks (preferably with 3 years edition) are being shipped via Cetana Foundation.  These sent to Myanmar General Practitioner Society  at Theinbyu Road. Once this process is established, it will be expanded to Mandalay. People who are interested in donating recent journals and textbooks are kindly requested to contact Dr. Chan Aung at goodsamaritan@comcast.net.

Continuing Medical Education Activities

Asso. Professor Dr. Stanislaus Ting is giving a lecture on “Allergic Rhinitis & Acute Sinusitis” at the annual meeting of the Myanmar GP Society in Yangon on January 6, 2007.

Post graduate training to Mahidol University in Thailand

Participation in the activities and communication with other Myanmar medical societies

BMA-NA’s Vice President Dr. James Hsu has been elected as the President of Myanmar American Medical Education Society – MAMES (New York).  Drs. Chan Aung and Mya Han attended the annual gala of the MAMES (New York) on December 16, 2006.  BMA-NA also maintains active contact with Burmese American Medical Association – BAMA (Los Angeles).

Global communication with other Myanmar medical societies

Communicating with other Myanmar medical societies by becoming members or maintain contacts with senior executive members for coordination of activities.

Solar Panel Project

 

BMA-NA member Dr. Alex M Swan (New Jersey) has donated US$14,000 for Solar Panels to be used in border area clinics.

 

Ma Nilar’s Renal Transplant Project

 

Ma Nilar is a very valuable public health professional of Save the Children Foundation (Myanmar), well known to everyone in field.  BMA-NA members have donated US$6,500 for her kidney transplant in India.  She is currently doing well in Myanmar.
